  • IFS

    International Food Standard. A hygiene system with hazard analyses and defined requirements for employees and production for guaranteeing defined delivery standards. Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points is a preventive system that is to ensure safety of food for consumers. See also: HACCP, BRC IoP, ISO 22000 and DIN EN 15593. All standards are simultaneously valid, coincide in areas and have regional priorities.

  • Impact strength

    Ability of a film to withstand the sudden occurrence of mechanical stress. Unit: k/m² or mJ/mm²; the measuring process is temperature-dependent, the lower the temperature the higher the tendency for breakage (and the lower the impact strength).

  • Impression roller

    Impression cylinder in roller printing and rotogravure, pushes a large area of the film web to be treated against an applicator cylinder or laminating cylinder.

  • Impulse sealing

    A method for welding films; a sealing bar only receives the necessary energy for a short period of time.

  • Intermediate layer printing

    Reversed back printing (also sandwich printing) on transparent film that is then laminated to a second material web. Alternatively: Paper or aluminium foil printed on the front facing the right way and then laminated with a transparent film on top. The print is always between two printed materials.
